There's nothing notable anymore about Glenn Beck's ravings --- how often can you pretend to set someone on fire, use the ghost of Tom Paine to call Barack Obama a fascist, or cry about "what life used to be like"?), be they a quest for fame and lots of money, political psychosis, or genuine bats*** craziness. However, this video from Crooks and Liars elevates Beck's latest conspiracy theory  of "Barack Obama's Six Degrees of Separation from Mao Zedong" by mashing it up with the 1970s wisdom of the famous scientist Miss Anne Elk:

So how many viewers does Glenn Beck’s show have and what percentage actually take him seriously ?

It does look like the funniest show's, a really sad comedy maybe...

Afshin,

Glenn Beck is the second highest with 3.2 M viewership. The O'Reilly is first with 3.5 M. Fox News holds Number 1 position in cable news.

A lot of people are dissatisfied with Federal gov. And a lot of news organizations do not get it. Programs that do, get more viewership. Here is the link for rating: http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/10/16/cable-news-ratings-for-thursday-october-15-2009/30690

Or better yet Smart enough to understand the stupidity of a large number of Americans. Its really the saddest comedy.

The content of the show is just so ridiculously funny and it really is sad that so many people watch it and buy the bullshit that he is saying.

I'm reminded of something I heard Noam Chomsky say recently:

"I mean, we’re very lucky that we have never had an honest demagogue. I mean, the demagogues we’ve had are so corrupt that they never got anywhere—you know, Nixon, McCarthy, you know, Jimmy Swaggart and others. So they were kind of destroyed by their own corruption.

"But suppose we had an honest demagogue, you know, a Hitler type, who was not corrupt. There’s probably—it could be unpleasant. There’s a background of concern and fear, tremendous fear, and searching for some answer, which they’re not getting from the establishment. “Who’s responsible for my plight?” You know, and that can be exploited. And unless there’s active, effective organizing and education, it’s dangerous."

Afshin,

“Or better yet smart enough to understand the stupidity of a large number of Americans"

Stupidity of a large number of Americans? Your remarks are divisive and juvenile.

I had read similar remarks by you in another post of yours. I dismissed it as a person basking himself in a bit of European snub. American people do not give a rat’s ass what snubs, whether European or make believe ones, say. Their accomplishments in short 233 years speak for itself.

Those who do not live in the U.S. and do not know heck about current issues facing Americans cannot possibly know what drives people. Labeling them stupid based on their TV viewing preference is intellectual deficit. People who do not share our ideological and political beliefs are not stupid, calling them stupid is.
