Video: Unrest in China - Death Toll and Suspicious Arrests Increasing

The unrest in China is growing. Since Sunday, the demonstrations of thousands of Uighurs in Xinjiang Province, protesting suppression, human rights abuses and injustice, have been put down violently. The number of arrests exceeds 1000; at least 156 people  have been killed and more than 800 wounded. Many Uighurs are worried about the fates of of their arrested fathers, relatives and friends...

The Uighurs are a Muslim minority in China, but are the largest ethnic group in Xinjiang, an area about the size of Alaska. They constitute roughly half of the province’s 20 million inhabitants.

The Chinese government, calling the demonstrations "riots" and showed protesters on attacking people on the streets and setting fire to vehicles.

As the US State Department stated, “We call on all sides for calm and restraint”, the Chinese government accused the exiled Uighur leader, Rebiya Kaader, who is living in the US, of organizing "riots". The Uighur leader rejected these claims.
