UPDATED: Miss California Says NOM on Same-Sex Marriage

UPDATE: The National Organization for Marriage advertisement featuring Miss California has now launched on YouTube. We'll reserve our comments about the claims that proponents of "opposite marriage" are being victimised, but the ad is not exactly going down a treat with viewers.

According to Ben Smith at Politico the National Organization for Marriage (which raised many Twitter users ire for its attempt to associate the term 'NOM' with something other than pictures of cute animals eating stuff) has enlisted the support of Miss California Carrie Prejean for the launch of its new advertisement.

Prejean, of course, told Perez Hilton that she believed in "opposite marriage"- that is, marriage between a man and a woman:

The ad will apparently focus on the 'vicious attacks' Prejean was subject to after stating her opposition to same-sex marriage. We'll try to bring you more details after its release tomorrow.

I feel so bad for supporters of opposite marriage (aka pee-pee and hoo-ha marriage). They have to suffer through our mean comments and ridicule while gay people don't have to suffer at all! The uppity gays have had everything so good, now they want to attack bigots? For shame.

Why do gays want marriage and military service so badly? I don't get it. I support both the military and marriage (traditional marriage), but I'm not brave (or stupid) enough to want to try either one. The late Bill Hicks was probably right...

I thought she said she's glad she lives "in a land" (I'm not sure which) "where you can choose same-sex or 'opposite'-marriage."

Apparently, she MEANT to say:
"I'm glad I live in a country where I can choose to take away your choice."

"... (because I'm blonde and beautiful, so I, like, know stuff.)"

So many people just want a warm fuzzy all the time and stick their heads in the collective sand to avoid unpleasantness or confrontation. The way Miss California has been treated by Perez Hilton and other gays is evidence that there is no love on their part for those who disagree with them. It's all on their terms and total acceptance of their "lifestyle". One cannot have an opinion that differs from theirs...then the b word starts flying around...

And other gays? What about all the straight people who also support civil rights? This is not a straight vs gay issue.

But thanks for making my first comment even more poignant. Apparently, it's OK for you to want to violate the rights of gay people, but when they get mad about it, oh noes!! What a bunch of ingrates!!

The solution is simple: If you don't like being called a bigot, stop being one.

I don't have a problem with people who are homosexual or heterosexual and just live their lives decently. However, I do have a problem with people who, regardless of their sexuality, wrap their whole being around it, call it a lifestyle and get angry at the rest of us for not going along with them.
