un-general-assemblyThe United Nations General Assembly announced late Wednesday that it will meet next week to evaluate the Goldstone Report. The news follows a UN Human Rights Council resolution condemning Israel not only for its alleged war crimes during the offensive in Gaza but also its alleged restrictions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Even though the General Assembly has already endorsed the resolution and passed the issue to the Security Council, there is little hope of further action since Washington has labeled the Goldstone Reports as "biased."

What a shame. Here in The Hague we were really hoping for an upgrade in the falafel and humus joints around the ICC.....

"Washington has labeled the Goldstone Reports as "biased.""

Not so much biased as naive, I think. Goldstone seems to have simply accepted everything that Hamas told him as true, with little or no checking.

This is like believing that Ahmedinejad won the election because he says he did.

Of course. The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) initiated it!! It's full of lies. I'm sure the good folks at Enduring America are having a good laugh at it.

Goldstone is upset that the resolution that just passed at the UNHRC uses his report to attack Israel. Just how naive is he? Did he really think this was about being fair?

"Richard Goldstone did not hide his irritation: "This proposed resolution saddens me because it indicated that allegations against Israel. There are no words to condemn Hamas as we do in the report. I hope the Council can still edit this text. ""

Dave and those of the Islamic faith,

Just what I was going to post on--who sponsored this report--the OIC. For those who don't know who the OIC is they are the very same group who sponsored the anti free speech legislation called Defamation of Religions. That legislation started in 1999 with Pakistan presenting it and of course it was only for Islam at the time. Under pressure they made it more generic stating Religions instead of Islam but again the only religion mentioned by name is of course Islam.

What many fail to realize is the draconian laws religious minorities live under in the Islamic world. The vestiges of Dhimmi laws(look up dhimmi under wiki) are endemic across the Islamic world. These laws restrict or outlaw open practice of ones faith, calling others to your faith, building/repairing houses of worship, restrict our bar minorities to certain government positions, and many more. An example of this is the Pakistani Law of Evidence which says ' four male Christian witnesses and two women's witness are the equivalent in legal terms to one male Muslim.' In Malaysia they have the equivalent of the US affirmated action law but it is for the majority Muslims!!! Try asking a Muslim if we were to outlaw dawah, building mosques, or open displays of faith. They would be aghast, and rightly so, and many would point out they are all grounds for Jihad yet all are realities for non Muslims in Muslim states. It is why religious minorities are rapidly declining in all Muslim majority states accept for maybe the Copts in Egypt. I would also encourage people to compare the the OIC's report on Islamophobia with the human rights reports for Muslims states. You will see harrasment with large finacial settlements in the west with death, torture, and churches burned to the ground on the other side.

Least of all lets not forget that the UNHRC is about individual human rights. The OIC of course does not believe in this because Sharia is collective rights laid down in scripture. Instead they want us to grant rights expecting everyone to consider Islam as a race? When have human rights been about granting rights to groups regardless of individual rights? Islam is not a race but a religion that by definition of UN law has no bearing on Universal Human Rights!

So yes it is quite suspect that the OIC sponsored this report. Make no bones about it the OIC wants to censor all speach about Islam and that includes their actions with regards to Israel. It is why the report has almost no mention of Hamas. They have to because under Islamic law you cannot question the validity of God and well Hamas is only trying to get back what was ordained by Mohammed as an Islmaic wafq for all time! Muslims need to realize this abject hypocrisy not only with Israel, who is no saint, but in general the with those of other faiths. If we were to use their logic with Israel, we should be taking back Turkey the home of orthodox Christianity that is now 99.9% Muslim.

For those in Iran look no further to the treatment of Bahais in Iran. Right before the Supreme Leaders death he put into law the persecution of Bahais and it continues to this day. I fully realize the transgressions of the West but I believe the other side of the coin is the predispostion Islam places on non Muslims. The fact remains Islamic nations rank the lowest every year when it comes to basic human and religious rights. Why? Its the predisposition of the other that is manifested in the laws of so many Islamic states and backed up by scripture!! The OIC is so wrapped up in the we vs them mentality they will completely ignore genocide in Darfur in favor of those "evil Zionist jooos" or Islamophobia which they call the worlds worst problem. To me some one has their moral compass out of synch and yes I am going to call them out on it!

Thx
Bill
