UPDATE 9 October: We originally posted this on 20 September, but in light of today's announcement of the 2009 award to a Mr B Obama, we thought it was not too soon to prepare for next year.
Mehdi Karroubi as a Nobel Prize Laureate? A group of activists certainly think so after the events in Iran since June, and they have launched a petition via Twitter to nominate the cleric and Presidential candidate. More information is available via this Twitition link.

I agree too ; he is very brave and he deserves it
I also signed the petition with my Twitter account. Was it a good idea? Some people object that the prize shouldn't go to someone who supported this regime for such a long time (and they certainly have a point...). At least, Karroubi acts out of his convictions and seems to have a clean record. I prefer this to all kinds of opportunistic behaviour.
It's not too early-- it's just the right time. (President Obama had hardly uttered the oath of office-- the Bible was still warm).
If Mehdi Karoubi stopped right now, he's already been a game-changer. He said what nobody else was willing or able to say and he won't back down. His past can't negate what he has done this year.
I agree and also signed the petition. He is by far the bravest man in Iran! May his quest for justice be fulfilled.
I'd support Karroubi! 2009 may have been just a little early for him, but certainly it was much much too early for Barack Obama. If I had my druthers, I'd be favoring Karroubi for 2010. Its not mandatory, but I definitely favor people who have been brave and stood for conviction against huge threats, who when they have everything to lose by doing so.
